Al Doum & The Faryds (afro/psych/jazz - Milan) Web Site Bandcamp
It is a Milan-based ensemble formed in 2010, bringing together musicians from diverse backgrounds — punk, jazz, rock, and free improvisation. Their music blends afro and modal jazz, psychedelic rock, and tribal grooves, incorporating ethnic instruments to create unexpected textures and a collective, hypnotic, almost trance-like sound. The result is an expansive sonic journey in which rhythms, voices, and horns operate as a single living organism.
The full lineup now features ten members: an orchestra of drums, percussion, horns, vocals, guitar, and bass. The group has always embraced a self-managed approach: their albums are recorded at Guscio Studio in Milan, run by guitarist Lorenzo Farolfi, where the band experiments with analog techniques and a communal production process.
Their records are pressed and distributed by Black Sweat Records, the independent label founded by bassist and singer Davide Domenichini, with several releases co-published with La Tempesta. The visual identity is also developed internally, from video production to the immersive light shows that accompany their live performances. After a journey spanning ethno-psychedelia and jazz-rock explorations, in 2026 the band releases Ipnagogico, a new chapter that deepens the project’s ritualistic and visionary dimension. The album further expands their sonic language, moving through collective trance, layered rhythms, and cosmic openings, confirming Al Doum & The Faryds as one of the most distinctive and uncompromising acts in the Italian independent scene.
